3. Help Save The Sea Turtles!
Olive Ridley project invite guests to join on a mission to protect the sea turtles and their habitats in Maldives and protected, and escorted back into the ocean safely and quickly. Be witnesses sea turtles hatching! Before the eggs hatched, guests could join nightly viewings of the nest from a nearby purpose-built viewing platform.
The Sea Turtle biologist from the Olive Ridley Project will talk about the many wonders of sea turtles, how they manage to spend their whole lives in the ocean and the threats they face. The main work of ORP’s Sea Turtle Biologist is the rescue of sea turtles found entangled in ghost nets or other debris. Join resort's team and be part of real-life practical and vital conservation efforts to save sea turtles and other marine life from the harmful effects of a ghost net and other gear.
In 2022, Amilla Maldives celebrated World Turtle Day by offering guests the opportunity to sponsor Amilla’s local turtles, or choose names for them. They also ran a special turtle excursion, with all proceeds donated to the Olive Ridley Project. Any of the resort’s younger guests can learn more about turtles and other aquatic creatures living in the area with Amilla’s Mini Marine Biologist programme.
